A New Year brings on change. Change in weather, we now say and write 2014, we see industry and design changes with companies being bought, sold, people leaving and finding jobs. With the new year we also see fitness gyms fill up, we make promises to ourselves we intend to keep and don’t, and some of us review our life in the past year, look at what needs to change, and improve.
This year, 2014 for me is all about development.
Personal development - getting honest with myself about who I am, what I want to be and finding satisfaction with who I am as I grow.
Professional development - Becoming a stronger front-end coder and designer, working on several projects, getting busy filling up my portfolio and expending my energy not just inwardly, but creating outwardly for others. Even if I have to do it for free.
Spiritual development - I am a pastor and sometimes this line of work can become overwhelming. People look to you for guidance, the truth, answers, prayers, activities, etc. While the job can be overwhelming, I am choosing to stay centered and calm this year spiritually as I move through my year.
I am not letting circumstance hinder me from achieving my goals this year. I will be writing and blogging more, connecting with other designers and developers in the industry locally, continuing my education about design, color-theory, coding, placement and challenge myself to design well and not mimic “ok” design.
This year I am going to push myself hard; but in a good way. I tend to push myself personally (I am my own worse critic and judge) but nothing positive comes from it. I get frustrated, I want to quit, I get overwhelmed and I tell myself to give up and let other people be good at what I could never achieve. That is all done now.
I am achieving.
I am growing this year.
2014 - The year of Personal, Professional Development.
